Tiny hats for bottles of Innocent smoothies are becoming a bit of a tradition. You S&B Londoners have been knitting them annually since S&B first began and have come up with some tiny loveliness.

The hats are sold atop smoothie bottles and do more than just them look pretty. Each one raises money for Age Concern, helping support older people when they need it most.

This year we’ve decided to go all out and try to churn out as many tiny hats as possible. Fancy knitting a few?

You can find three fabulous tiny hat pattern on the Innocent site. Start off simple, start off a little bit crazy, or go entirely wild with your idea.

The Stitchettes will collect up the Innocent Hats and hand them over for the deadline of Friday 16th October. You can bring them along to any meeting. We’ll feature our faves on our blog post and in the newsletter after the deadline.

If you can’t make it along to a meeting then fear not. You can send them into Innocent via snail mail too.

Just pop your hats in an envelope along with your name, address and number of hats knitted, and send them by the 16th of October to this address:

To kick things off S&B London are teaming up with Innocent to launch The Big Knit with a Stitch and Bitch London meeting at Innocent’s headquarters Fruit Towers. There’ll be cakes, smoothie galore, hat patterns, yarn, pom poms, and more cakes (we’re all about the cakes). There’ll also be a chance to show off your stitching to some of the Innocent employees and some of the yarn wielding Age Concern grans.

You’re all invited, and it’s all completely free. So hop along to Fruit Towers for the fruitiest Stitch and Bitch London meeting to date. Go on.

The lovely yarn-flavoured folks at Simply Knitting have given us and our fabulous SnB blanket a mention on their blog!

Hurrah for them for spreading the blankety word. Hopefully it should tempt even more of you in.

This thing may get too big for us to carry to the event! Good thing the Stitchettes are used to carrying huge amounts of knitting into Central London. That Lion Scarf was excellent training!

S&B London are currently putting together the UK SnB Blanket. A fabulous giant blanket made of squares by knitting groups from all over the UK.

We would like the capital city’s knitters to come together on the 16th of October at the Royal Festival Hall from 6 PM to help us knit blue squares for the base of the blanket.

You can bring them along on the day, or turn up to the event with your blue yarn and some needles and stitch in public to create your square.

Each 20cm by 20cm square will be part of the UK SnB blanket to be exhibited at UK SnB Day on the 10^th of November.

The S&B London Stitchettes are also willing to teach anyone who can’t knit but wants to join in for free. Just bring along blue yarn and some needles and ask us.

If your knitting group wishes to be part of the blanket they can also bring along squares on the day. Details of requirements for individual knitting group squares can be found at here.

There is still room in the fabulous UK Stitch n Bitch Blanket for knitting groups to join in.

Groups all over the UK are emailing us at stitchandb.london@googlemail.com to help us knit possibly the most fabulous national blanket that has ever had the pleasure of being stitched by many.

You don’t have to be a Stitch and Bitch group to be a part of it. The only requirement is that you are a group who meet for the love of the knit.

So whether you are a few knitters stitching in a sitting room, a dozen knitters nattering down your local, or hundreds knitters taking over a stadium we want to hear from you.

UK Stitch n Bitch Day looms on the horizon (November 10th) and in honour of the Queen of the Skein, Ms Debbie Stoller, touching down on our shores we at Stitch and Bitch London would very much like every knitting group out there to join with us in creating an SnB blanket to end alllllllllllllllllll blankets.

You don’t have to be an SnB group to join in, just people who get together for the love of the knit.

The plan is for every single knitting group in the UK (who wants to join in, we won’t force you with our pointy sticks) to knit a part of a UK map. Each group will knit a square with their area on. Send them all in to us (we love to sew up bits of knitting, honest) and create a monster of a blanket to show just how many of us in the Stitch n Bitch army there are.
