Holland warns us not to leave the lion in his vest…

Posted by Stitch and Bitch London on February 11, 2007

Football Scarf? The postcardYvonne Phillipa from Amsterdam sent us a Dutch Orange patch and a postcard of one of Holland’s iconic windmills. Maybe we can help you guys cover it in knitting next year!
“Great idea to warm the lions!” She tells us “In Holland we even have a (football) song about that: Don’t leave the lion in his vest, which is the Dutch equivalent for don’t make the lion look a fool.”

She also insists that she is not a football fan at all, but we suspect this to be slightly untrue as the whole card is about football and she admits to knitting in the national football team’s shirt colour!

A knitter and a football fan? Wonders will never cease! 😛

Yvonne’s blog is here for those of you who can speak Dutch.

We will certainly try to keep the beasts looking dignified, Yvonne. 🙂
