New York Knitters take to their needles for the Lions…
Posted by Stitch and Bitch London on February 19, 2007
Back in November I joined the Stitch and Bitch New York mailing group to find out about all the knitting stuff the Big Apple had to offer when Laura and myself visited their fair city in December.
I got loads of good tips and some lovely ‘knit with us!” replies.
We did knit in New York when we got there, but first onto more important things…
When I mentioned the Lion Scarf our new New York knitting friends were proud to knit their bit. 🙂
Cat Hannan’s scarf part shows off knitting skills I only hope to have one day. She comes from Rye, NY (which is in the north of the state) and wishes us the best of luck.
There is a bit of a Christmassy feel to these patches from Jennifer Bernstein and her friend Michelle. 🙂
Jennifer told us “Thanks for letting us contribute across the pond.” You are very welcome Jennifer. We are honoured to have you join us.
And our first NY patch is from a mystery knitter (as there was no card or letter in with this Lion Patch) but it is fabulous red, white and blue. We love it.
It could be from anyone as many NY knitters promised us a patch! If it’s yours and you see this then please let us know and I can update the page. 🙂
We got a lovely email from Judi who told us:
“I’m very interested in the charity project you mentioned in the posting to the NYC SnB list. As somebody who LOVES London and who has visited a dozen times over the past 26 years, and who has propped her children up against the lions for dozens of photos, I’d LOVE to knit something that would keep them warm. 😉 ”
Could the mystery patch be hers?
And Betty in the Bronx has also promised a patch. So we look forward to getting that one too!
I promise to add them as soon as they turn up.
Laura and I went on a bit of a yarn shop crawl in New York. We ate cake and knit at The Point knitting cafe and were green with envy at the fabulouness of your yarn stores!
Thanks so much New York. Us Londoners salute you. We’ll be back. And next time we’ll bring bigger suitcases!
