Pay It Forward: Sharing the Stitching Love
Posted by Deadly Knitshade on November 5, 2007
Pay it Forward is a warm-fuzzy-feeling concept that will make the world a better place. The basic idea is it that instead of returning a favour, you pass that favour onto some other needy soul. The idea, which dates back pre-Hollywood and modern book to Robert A. Heinlein’s Between Planets, has taken on legs of its own (thanks to the movie and her royal highness Oprah) and finally it has come to the knit.
S&B London Stitchette, Lauren, came across it in the virtual halls of Ravelry and jumped on the band wagon of sharing. The basic idea is this:
- The first three people to leave a comment on the Pay it Forward post here will receive a knitted item from the blogger (in this case me) within 6 months
- The people who comment then put Pay it Forward on their own blog for three people to comment on and knits those three an item within 6 months
- Those people then put it on their blog
- Then the next three put it on theirs
- You get the idea
You have a whole six months to think of something suitable, it can be small, huge, simple, clever, whatever you want. You could be sending and receiving from anywhere on the planet!
Quick! Comment now (with your email address in the right box so I can get back to you), and if you are too late start your own on your blog (and leave a link on ours to invite people in). Soon there will be London knitting pinging from pole to pole.
Pay it Forward, S&B Londoners!
And let us know how it goes and we’ll publish your goodies on our blog too.
